City Driving Experience

CRUDE Ultimate Driving Education offers everyone with a learner permit, probationary, full or overseas driver’s licence the opportunity to focus specifically on Melbourne city driving in a standard 2-hour lesson!

Welcome to Melbourne, the city of hook turns and trams! Use this focused lesson to increase / refresh your knowledge and skills with driving in the central business district and inner city suburbs of Melbourne.

On this lesson you will receive a complimentary coffee or water.

What’s involved?

In this 2-hour specific lesson we focus in on the following:

  • Hook turns (turning right from the left) at specific intersections with traffic lights
  • Standard right turns at traffic lights with a solid circular green and / or turning arrow
  • Driving around trams and understanding the rules around trams
  • Dealing with and understanding rules around pedestrians, cyclists and other road users
  • Identifying speed limits, especially the new 30 km/h signage
  • Recognising road signs as early as possible to make safer decisions
  • Reverse parallel parking 
  • Median strip bay parking
  • Understanding parking signage rules and how to use the PayStay or EasyPark app when paying

Terms and Conditions

  • Anyone with a learner permit or driver’s licence (probationary / full / overseas) can book in this specific service with a standard 120-minute (2-hr) lesson. Just be sure to mention you wish to complete the City Driving Experience when booking – learner drivers will need to have a certain level of car control in order to benefit from this specific lesson
  • To ensure you receive the most benefit out of this lesson, we must start and finish at the VicRoads Carlton Customer Service Centre at 459 Lygon Street, Carlton, Victoria 3053.
  • The City Driving Experience can only be booked with a standard 120-minute (2-hr) driving lesson, between 9:30 am and 1:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
